Features | The place of origin is the grassland (Pampas) of South America such as Brazil and Argentina. It came to the middle of Meiji period and had silver-white spikes, so it was given the Japanese name "Shiraganeyoshi (Shiragin Reed)". At first glance it resembles Japanese pampas grass, but it is powerful because it grows up to 2-3 meters high in the flowering season from September to October. Flower spikes are used not only for ikebana and dried flowers, but also for greening road separation zones. You can see it on the side of the lawn square in Environmental Activity Support Center. |
