The history and origin of the town name / Shiratoridai
Hen history / origin
A town newly established from a part of Ondacho with the enforcement of the land readjustment project in 1967. In the old days, it was Onda Village, Tsuzuki County. When the municipal system was enforced in 1889, it merged with Nara Village and Nagatsuda Village to become Tana Village Oaza Onda, and became Ondacho when transferred to Yokohama City in 1939. Transferred from Midori Ward following the reorganization of administrative districts in 1994. The name of the town is derived from the "Kamitori" of Shitodo Maekawa Shrine, which is enshrined in the town, and the swan, which has been a sacred bird since ancient times, was named "Shiratoridai".
