May issue Yokohama is full of flowers and greenery "Garden Necklace Yokohama 2021" local report
Beautiful flowers and greenery are entertaining our eyes throughout the city. I went to a beautiful spot where expressive flowers and scenery like Yokohama harmonize!
Last updated on May 1, 2021.
Visiting the Highlights of Flowers
"Garden Necklace Yokohama", which connects the city of Yokohama like a necklace with beautiful flowers and greenery, is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year. During the exhibition, flowers such as cherry blossoms, tulips, and roses bloom one after another like a relay in various parts of the city. Among them, I went around spots that show various expressions depending on the season.
※The photo was taken on April 12.
Shinko Chuo Hiroba
The first thing I visited was Shinko Chuo Hiroba. The colorful tulips greeted me.
The "natural garden" created by various kinds of cute flowers, combined with the red bricks in the background, creates a unique scene in Yokohama that makes you feel exotic. If you walk along the path made between flowers, you can enjoy immersiveness surrounded by flowers.
"Natural Garden" beautifully arranged
Zonohana Park
If you walk a little from Shinko Chuo Hiroba towards the red brick, you will find Elephanthana Park. Here, there is a photo spot where you can take a commemorative photo with the mascot character "Garden Bear" of Garden Necklace Yokohama.
In addition, the photo spot is also the point of the "Flower and Green Digital Stamp Rally" where you can get garden bear goods.

Along with the view of the openness facing the sea
Nihon Odori Avenue
The next highlight is Nihon Odori Avenue. The beautiful streets lined with Historic buildings and open cafes are colored by various varieties of tulips. I walked a street full of openness that leads to Yokohama Port more dashing than usual.
Flower corridor with 32 varieties of 30,000 tulips
Yamashita Park
The last time I visited was Yamashita Park.
The "Sphere Mix Flowerbed", which is randomly scattered by mixing spring blooming bulbs such as tulips, narcissus, and muscari, allows you to enjoy attractive scenery that changes according to the season for a long time.
In addition, at the time of the interview, a flower bed exhibition was held, so many colorful flower beds were set up, delighting the eyes of visitors to the park.
※The flower bed exhibition will be held until May 5 (Wednesday/holiday).
Beautiful flowers that delight both human eyes and dog eyes
The Garden Necklace Yokohama 2021 Information Center is open in Yamashita Park for a limited time.
Here, we also provide information on event information, sell goods, and rent books on flowers and greenery.
※Until Sunday, May 30
This time, I went around several spots, but at the time of the interview, it was in the middle of April, so the flowers will show a different expression as the season progresses in May and June. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of scenery you can see.
Yokohama Rose Week
In May, the city's flower "rose" will be in full bloom. You can enjoy roses in various parts of the city, including Yamashita Park, Harbor View Park (Minato-no-Mieru Oka Koen) and Yokohama City Hall. The venue will be introduced on the official Youtube channel, so please take a look. Please cooperate with COVID-19 infection measures such as temperature measurement and wearing a mask when visiting the venue.
※During May, the rose garden in Yamashita Park will carry out a one-way street.
