On May 12, 2021, Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd. and Yokohama City, which are developing Muji, concluded a comprehensive partnership agreement for the realization of a pleasant living and society, and will cooperate in various initiatives, including the environment, agriculture and welfare for the elderly.

Efforts to reduce food that can still be eaten but discarded (= food loss)
In Yokohama City, burnable garbage from households contains 93,000 tons of food loss annually. The amount is about 25 kg per person and about 19,000 yen for food expenses. In order to reduce food loss, each person's consciousness is very important.
Measures to reduce food loss that each person can work on include buying the amount that can be eaten, organizing the refrigerator, and cooking only the amount that can be eaten on that day.
In addition to these individual initiatives, Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd. is engaged in food drive activities as an initiative to reduce food loss.
Food drive is an activity to donate unused food that cannot be used in each household to welfare facilities and welfare organizations. Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd. has been working on food drive activities, starting with `` Muji Tokyo Ariake '', and is now expanding at all stores in Yokohama City following the conclusion of a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Motoichi. In addition, Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd. is working to reduce food loss through mass sales. I felt that I wanted to use it positively because purchasing the amount I could eat leads to a reduction in food loss.

At Muji Konandai Bars, we are working to reduce food loss and reduce plastic waste.
