Elementary school students harvest rice on the roof paddy field of Totsuka Ward Office!

　Tozuka Elementary School fifth graders (4 classes, 142 students) are making rice on the roof paddy field (34 meters above ground, about 50 square meters) on the 8th floor of the Totsuka Ward Office, with the cooperation of farmers in JA Yokohama and Maiokacho.
　Rice making on the rooftop paddy field begins with the relocation of the ward office in 2013, and is the eleventh this year.
　The ears grow on the seedlings planted by elementary school studenｔ in June, and they finally harvest rice. elementary school studenｔ will take on the challenge of cutting with a sickle to realize the autumn of harvest and deepen their understanding of agriculture and interest in locally grown and consumed.
