In order to spread and enhance school lunches, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has adopted schools and communal kitchens that have achieved excellent results as “school lunch excellent schools, etc.”, and individuals and groups are referred to as “school lunches”. Awards are given every year as “workers”. This time, Idogaya Elementary School in Yokohama City (2-1, Idogaya Kamimachi, Minami-ku, Yokohama City) received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology commendation as an "excellent school lunch school".
(In addition, nine schools nationwide, including Idogaya Elementary School, have been awarded "Excellent School Lunch Schools.")
