Types of public pension, etc. Special disability benefits

The Special Disability Benefit Program was established as a welfare measure for persons with disabilities who have not received Disability Basic Pension, etc., because they did not participate during the voluntary enrollment period of the National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin).

(1)Students who were eligible for voluntary participation by National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) prior to March 1991 (Note)…Excluding nighttime, night class/night school and telecommunications systems)
(2)Spouses such as those who were eligible for voluntary participation in National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) before March 1986 and who had joined Employee Pension Plan (Kosei Nenkin), etc.
Those who fall under any of the above (1) and (2)
Those who are currently in grade 1 or 2 of Disability Basic Pension due to illness or injury that occurred during the period when National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) was not voluntarily enrolled.
※However, it is limited to those who have fallen into disability by the day before reaching the age of 65. Requests must also be made by the day before reaching the age of 65.

  • Those who fall into the first grade of Disability Basic Pension………¥55,350 per month
  • Those who fall into the second grade of Disability Basic Pension………¥44,280 per month

※The amount paid will be revised in accordance with price fluctuations each year.
※Payments may be adjusted (or suspended) depending on the person receiving another pension or his income.

We will accept your bill at the ward office National Pension Plan Section.
Certification and payment are provided by the pension Organization of Japan.

Please be careful!

・Benefits will be paid from the month following the billing month. In addition, we will check the past situation, etc., so it may take several months to actually pay. Thank you for your understanding.
・Those who receive the benefits may be exempt from the National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) premium upon application.
