Alert from the Consumer Affairs Agency
Do not ride an electric assist bicycle that does not meet the standards of the Road Traffic Law!
First of all, let's check the model of your bicycle!
1 Do not ride an electric assist bicycle whose assist ratio is found to exceed the standards under the Road Traffic Law.
If the assist ratio of bicycles with drive assistance (hereinafter referred to as "electric assist bicycles") exceeds the standards under the Road Traffic Law, it is dangerous to lose balance due to unexpected addition of assist power exceeding the standards. is. Passing on the road with an electric assist bicycle that does not conform to the standards may violate laws and regulations and may lead to accidents.
2 Electric assist bicycles that do not conform to the standards of the Road Traffic Law
The National Police Agency has announced that at least some of the seven electric assist bicycles have exceeded the standard for the assist ratio under the Road Traffic Act.

For one of these products, a product test by the National Consumer Affairs Center of Japan (Germany) also found that the assist ratio exceeded the standards under the Road Traffic Law.

3 If you think you have an electric assist bicycle of the applicable type, check with the supplier or the operator in Attachment 1.
Refer to the table in Attachment 1 and if you think that the model of your electric assist bicycle is applicable, check with the supplier or the operator in Attachment 1.
Even if the model is applicable, depending on the production lot, it may not exceed the standard of the assist ratio, but be sure to check it.
If you do not know the model of your bicycle, or if you want to consult about inspection or repair, check with the supplier or the operator in Attachment 1.
Attachment 2 shows that the assist ratio has been found to exceed the standards under the Road Traffic Law, and that the recall information is posted on the Consumer Affairs Agency Recall Information Site. All recall information obtained by the Consumer Affairs Agency is posted on the same site. This site will be updated from time to time, so please refer to it.
