Director General Column To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Minami Ward system (December 1, 2023)

　On December 1st, Minami Ward celebrated its 80th anniversary. Thanks to the help of the people involved, such as the Executive Committee, we were able to celebrate this day grandly with the inhabitants of the ward. .
　For the 80th anniversary of the constituency system, various commemorative projects were held in November. On Saturday, November 11, a “Connected Cleaning Walk” was held with approximately 740 people, including Neighborhood Associations and elementary school students. At Makita Park in Galle, I saw a lot of garbage being collected with the cooperation of everyone, and I was filled with a sense of accomplishment.
　On Saturday, November 18, a commemorative tree planting was held at Makita Park with members of the Minami Ward Sakura Savings Promotion Association and local residents. Although it was in the cold sky, the children warmed their hearts with energetic songs and dances. We hope that the "cherry blossoms" planted this time will take root and grow greatly with the children while being loved by everyone who uses the park.
　What remains the same in 80 years after Minami Ward was born is the liveliness of downtown areas and the bonds between people who have been connected in the community. As Minami Ward's catchphrase, "The Wind in the South is Warm," we will steadily connect Minami Ward, who is friendly to people who value connections and bonds, over the next 10 and 20 years. We look forward to your continued support in the future.
