The history and origin of the town name / Eda Nishi 1-chome to 5-chome
Hen history / origin
A town newly established from a part of Edacho and Ichigaocho with the enforcement of the land readjustment project in 1983. In the old days, it was Eda Village, Tsuzuki County. When the municipal system was enacted in 1889, it merged with Motoishikawa Village and Kurosuda Village Hiji to become Tsuzuki Koriyama Uchimura Oaza Eda, and became Edacho when transferred to Yokohama City in 1939. Transferred from Midori Ward following the reorganization of administrative districts in 1994. The name of the town was named after the fact that the town area is located on the west side of Edacho and the local request to leave "Eda" in the town name. It is presumed that the Chojabaru archeological site in this area was the location of the Tsuzuki group government office (administrative center).
