Asama Shrine in Sodesuriyama

In the past, Sengencho was an inn between Kanagawa and Hodogaya, a former lawn village. Prior to landfill, it prospered as a relay point for transporting firewood and charcoal from the United States at the mouth of the Katabira River, which faces a beautiful inlet called Sodegaura. Because when the street name is changed, it leads to death…It seems that some rare opinions came out, but anyway, I settled down in Sengencho.

The origin of the name is Asama Shrine, which is the guardian of the village and is located in a corner of Sodesuriyama. According to the company biography, it was built by the recommendation of Duke Minamoto no Yoritomo and has already carved a history of 900 years. enshrined deity is the main shrine of Asama Shrine at the summit of Fuji with Himemei Kihana Sakiya. The Asama-style main hall is based on Mount Fuji.

Did you know that the stone steps behind the scenes were the stage of an important scene in Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece "Sanshiro"?
