Japan's first gas lamps

A little off the border, there is Japan's first gas lamps in front of Honmachi Elementary School, just beyond the eyes and nose of Momijizaka. However, this was restored, but it was actually ignited in October 1872.

The success of establishing a gas company was Kaemon Takashima, an entrepreneur who has left a name for landfills in the Takashimacho area. He competed with foreign capital, such as the United States and Germany, and obtained a license and invested his private property to complete it on his own.

In 1874, the Takashima-kan of the Kappo cuisine Ryokan, which he owns, and the inside and outside of the current Minato-za, which opened in Tokiwa-cho, were decorated with dazzling gas lights to surprise people. The moss of the port seat is Nakamura Ganjaku. The feature is written by Joko Segawa, the third generation, "Kinsei Minato no Sakigake".
