On Wednesday, November 8, a lecture on incurable disease hosted by Elderly and Disabled Support Division Tsurumi Ward was held with the theme of "Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: Understanding disease and the importance of rehabilitation." This lecture was for patients and their families, and 45 people attended.
In the first half of the lecture, Dr. Internal medicine gave a lecture on what kind of disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, testing and diagnosis methods, changes in symptoms and treatment methods.
In the second half of the lecture, occupational therapists explained "physical function" and "living environment" in rehabilitation separately. In this context, it was emphasized that it is important to adjust the environment in order to make effective use of the abilities that can be done, as symptoms and progress vary from patient to patient. In addition, they introduced tools to eliminate inconveniences in daily life, and those who attended were eagerly taking notes.
During the Q&A session, many questions were received, and the lecture was lively until the end.
