September is Respect for the Elderly Month to celebrate the longevity of the elderly who have been contributing to society for many years.
In Midori Ward, 40 people turned 100 this year, with a total of 113 people over 100 years old.
The oldest person in the ward is Hisao Ikeda, born in 1912, who is 108 years old this year.
I wanted to visit you directly and give you a congratulatory message, but this year it was not possible due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I'm very sorry.
Mr. Ikeda's hobby is painting, and he started at the age of 100. The picture drawn at the age of 106 and donated is displayed in the mayor's office, so I would like to introduce the wonderful work.
Once again, I would like to express my sincere respect and appreciation to the elderly who have been active in the years of Taisho, Showa, Heisei and Reiwa, and wish you all the best to stay forever.
It is displayed in the Director General room.
