[9th] We participated in the corn harvesting experience.
Wednesday, July 8, 2020
In a special agricultural district in Higashi Hongo, Kamoi, with the help of farmers Kazuyoshi Okubo, we organized a locally grown and consumed lecture titled “Experience of harvesting corn that meets summer vegetables” sponsored by Midori Ward.
When I arrived at the site, a corn field with stems extending straight toward the sky spread all over, and I was overwhelmed by its power.
Participants looked for sweet corn with plump fruits based on Okubo's advice, and it was impressive that they brought back a lot of corn with a smile after harvesting.
Unfortunately, in order to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, we were unable to conduct annual corn tastings, but I hope it will be an opportunity to convey the taste of freshly picked corn and the appeal of locally grown and consumed.
In the future, Midori Ward will gradually resume events while working on measures against COVID-19 infection.
