[45th] Midori Ward Biodiversity Lecture was held
February 25, 2021
On Saturday, February 20, we held a biodiversity lecture, "Global Warming Issues and what we can do in our lives." .
The purpose of this lecture is to encourage residents of the city to take an interest in global warming issues and to implement environmentally friendly initiatives in the city's greenest Midori Ward. To prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, Midori Ward gave a lecture on Zoom for the first time. We had people of various ages apply from inside and outside the city, and on the day, 83 people participated.
The lecturer invited Professor Koichi Goka of the National Institute for Environmental Studies, National Research and Development Agency, who studies fire ants and other specific alien species and is widely used in television and media. In this lecture, he explained the serious environmental problems caused by human behavior, such as excessive consumption of resources, the use of chemical substances, and the introduction of invasive organisms. I was drawn into Mr. Goka's passionate story, and it was an hour in no time.
In the questionnaire of the participants, "I learned a lot about Dr. Goka's story." There were many comments such as "It was an opportunity to think about what we can do for coexistence of nature."
After the lecture, we released the first video of the citizen's forest and contact forest created this year, "Ask for Hometown Green". . Videos are also available on Midori Ward Web. Please watch the video and enjoy a stroll through the forest while keeping an eye on COVID-19 infection in the refreshing spring.
