[34th] Participated in the Midori Ward Heritage Guide Walking and the Midori Ward Heritage Registration Ceremony at the former Yamashita Elementary School.

Last updated on December 15, 2020.
On Wednesday, December 9, we participated in the Midori Ward Heritage Guide Walking Course in Oyama and Yamashita. There were four Midori Ward heritage sites, Kango-ji Temple, Old Castle Temple, and Kanagawa Road, along with the participants.
In conjunction with this walking, a commemorative ceremony for the Midori Ward heritage registration of the former Yamashita Elementary School wooden school building and school gate was held by the local community, and I was invited.
At present, the building used as the Yamashita Regional Exchange Center is the only existing precious wooden school building as a Yokohama City School, and is a base for local activities.
Of these, wooden school buildings and school gates were jointly submitted to the Midori Ward Heritage under the joint name of the Yamashita Union Neighborhood Association and the Yamashita Regional Exchange Center Management Committee, and registered as the 20th Midori Ward Heritage on Saturday, October 30.
I am very pleased that this historic building, which has been used in the region since it was built in 1942, has been registered as a Midori Ward heritage site.
Through the walking and commemorative ceremony of the Midori Ward heritage, I felt the feelings and attachment of the local community to Midori Ward. The members of the Midori Ward Guide Volunteer Association, who were in charge of walking guides, gave me a lot of explanations about the heritage of Midori Ward and the history of temples and shrines. Thank you very much for protecting and nurturing the charm of the area. I hope you will continue your activities.
