Do I have to join the National Health Insurance?
Last updated on October 25, 2021.
The National Health Insurance is based on those who are eligible for the medical system for the elderly, those who are enrolled in the employee health insurance workplace, their dependents, and those who are receiving welfare. All must have the national health insurance provided by the municipality.
Under the National Health Insurance system, there is no way of thinking such as "person" or "dependent" like employee health insurance in the workplace, and each person is "insured".
The National Health Insurance will be applied on a household basis, and the head of the household has the right to submit various notifications, pay insurance premiums, and receive insurance benefits. Even if the head of the household is enrolled in the employee health insurance workplace, if a family member of the same household joins the National Health Insurance, the head of the household has those rights and obligations.
Note: In principle, the concept of “household”, “head of household” and “Address” is based on the contents of resident registration.
