What procedures are required when using The Long-term Care Insurance after a traffic accident?

Last updated on October 15, 2021.

Welfare, care
A

1.If you use The Long-term Care Insurance services due to injury from a third party (perpetrator), such as a traffic accident or injury incident, you will need to submitregistration form concerning the act of third parties or police traffic accident certificates. As notification is necessary separately from medical treatment, please consult with the ward office Insurance and Pension Division National Health Insurance Section of your ward office (see contact information).

2.The victims can use the The Long-term Care Insurance Service as usual after submitting registration form to the ward office.

In principle, if nursing care is required due to injury due to a traffic accident, etc., the necessary nursing care costs will be borne by the assailant unless the victim is negligible.

At a later date, the insurer, Yokohama City, will charge the perpetrator for the insurance benefits of the nursing care service costs.

3.If the consultation between the victim and the perpetrator is concluded, the contents of the consultation will take precedence, and Yokohama City may not be able to claim the perpetrator for insurance benefits for nursing care service costs.

For example, if the damages received in the settlement include insurance benefits, the victim will not be able to provide insurance benefits from Yokohama City, so the victim will use the nursing care service at his own expense. .

4.Please contact us in advance and submit a copy of the settlement form to your ward office, Insurance and Pension Division National Health Insurance Section, where you live.
