I want to change (rename) my name. Can I change it? Also, how do you proceed?

In order to change your name, you must file a petition with the "family court" and take steps to obtain permission for the change.

You will be able to change your name only if you determine that there is a legitimate reason in the "family court".

After obtaining permission to change your name at the Family Court, please notify the ward office Family Registry Division Family Registry Section with a copy of determination of family court.
When you change your name (last name), you will change your name (last name) by another notification.
In this case, permission from the family court may be required.
