Cross the large Takashima Pedestrian Bridge near the Takashimacho intersection toward Minato Mirai. The Suzukake Dori st. is home to new office buildings and modern high-rise apartments.
Turn right at the Minato Mirai 5-chome intersection and you will find a convenience store right away. Until more than 30 years ago, this area was a port facility, the entrance to Takashima Wharf No. 1 Pier. The scenery was completely different from now, freight lines were laid, and warehouses were lined up.
After the Great Kanto Earthquake, the first pier was completed in 1930 (Showa 5), and then the third pier was built, and it was a pier for domestic cargo. However, there was a passenger ship on the Oshima route of Tokai Kisen from No. 1 pier.
Fifty-one years ago, I took a boat from the first pier and enjoyed a cruise to Izu-Oshima Island. A few years ago, Harumi Miyako's singing "Anko Tsubaki is Love Flower" was a big hit, so I wanted to go to Izu-Oshima Island. Now, there is a boat from Osanbashi to Izu-Oshima Island on a Friday night.
