The 42nd Iwagame Yokocho / Iwagame Inari

There is a diagonal road that crosses the Yukimi-bashi intersection near Sakuragicho Station in Route 1 and Takashimacho. In the past, when the Minatomirai district was Mitsubishi Dock, Iwakame Yokocho was very crowded with workers and still retains the image of old Yokohama.
As you go along the street, Iwagame Inari is where a white flag stands on the left. In 1873, Iwagamero, which was popular in Miyozaki Yukaku (now Yokohama Park), moved to Takashimacho by a great fire. It is said that there was a dormitory for recuperation of prostitutes here, and Inari was believed by the prostitutes. He must have made earnest requests about his home family, health, and favorite people. "Iwagame Inari" is still being carefully protected by the people around you.
Looking up on the street, you can see the skyscraper of the new town, Minatomirai, just beyond the old town. When you pass through Yokocho, you will meet the old road "Yokohama way".
