It's new! Nishi Ward Tekuteku Sketch: The twenty-fourth Hodogaya Road①

Yokohama was opened in Ansei 6 (1859). At that time, to go to the opening port, I walked down the steep Yokohama way from under Asama on the Tokaido. Until Yokohama way was built, I took a ferry boat in front of Suzaki Shrine in Kanagawa-juku, which was the sea, or walked along the old road Hodogaya Road.
The Hodogaya Road begins at the Daimon-dori intersection near Shinmei-sha, a guardian near Tennocho Station on the Sotetsu Line on the old Tokaido. This is a masterpiece picture created by the Shogunate during the Kansei period of the Edo period, and it is written as "Nomichi, Tobe Village 20 Towns" in the "Tokaido Bannobe Picture" that I think is a masterpiece picture. It is.
Turn left at the Daimon (Daimon) Street intersection with Tennocho Station. Cross the overpass that spans the JR Tokaido Line, etc., exit in front of Sugiyama Shrine and turn left. From here, enter Nishi Ward. On the right side is the arch of Green Road Fujidana, and the street with five shopping streets is Hodogaya Road. From here, Kubocho Nico Nico Shopping Street begins.
