Yokohama was opened in late Tokugawa shogunate, and some travelers who headed for the port from Hodogaya-juku walked along the Hodogaya Road. Kubocho Nico Nico Shopping Street is the street.
At that time, it was a narrow road, with only fields and forests around it, and few houses. From the Taisho era to the beginning of the Showa era, the Yokohama streetcar opened and the number of houses increased, and the number of workers working for docks at the Yokohama culvert (Senkyo) and Furukawa Electric increased, and the current town was created.
Walk along Kubocho Nico Nico Shopping Street toward Tobe. As soon as you enter the alley on the right, you will find Tenman-gu Shrine. Did the travelers at that time stop here in hope of the safety of the trip and the success of the business?
Pass under the high-voltage line and enter "Sun Mall Nishiyokohama (Kubocho Ginza Shopping Street)". There are many shops closely related to daily life. "It's cheap!" "Welcome!" There is a lively voice. You can see Dane and the Landmark Tower in front of the street. It's a downtown shopping street like Yokohama. Plates of "Hodogaya Road" are embedded in various parts of the road.
