Get off at Sengencho Garage-mae bus stop near Kofukuji intersection of Loop No. 1. Enter the road with the pedestrian bridge and aim for the hill Sengendai Elementary School. Crossing the old Tokaido highway and going up the steep slope in a residential area, you will be on a "connected slope (named by elementary school students)" overlooking Yokohama-sta.-nishiguchi and Minato Mirai.
On the cliff of this slope is Asamadai. Akira Kurosawa's work, a criminal movie masterpiece "Heaven and Hell (monochrome, some colors)" released in 1963 (Showa 38), was shot here. I'm a big fan of Kurosawa movies.
Now, where the apartment is built, a mansion of the main character and shoemaking company managing director dressed as Toshiro Mifune has been built. The film begins with the scene of a living room with large glass doors overlooking Yokohama-sta.-nishiguchi, and the first half is a story in this living room. Tsutomu Yamazaki, a kidnapper who claims a ransom of 30 million yen, is sweating in his hand.
In Kurosawa's work "Kata Sanshiro", the nearby Asama Shrine Ura approach stairs are used for location.
