Illustration of the masonry retaining wall of the former Senzo Hiranuma House

On the other side of the municipal Chuo-toshokan, at the corner of the Nogezaka intersection in Noge, there is a magnificent stone masonry that is diagonally stacked like a stone wall of a castle.
In this place, there was a separate residence of Senzo Hiranuma, a trader dealing with Meiji period and raw silk. At that time, there were villas such as Australian merchant Zenzaburo Hara and Sobee Mogi around Noge.
The stone wall is a hexagonal stone material like Luo of the turtle, which is stacked up, down, left and right.
It's hard to see, but it's in shape and beautiful. This masonry has been certified as a Yokohama City Certified Historic buildings.
In the Meiji era, the work of the walls was lost, but the historical stone masonry technology was demonstrated on the stone walls of Australian merchants, and still remains here in Nishi Ward.
